Belva Davis, 93 years of age, passed away February 28, 2014. Belva was born February 23, 1921 to the late Carson Vines and Ethel Ward Vines in Hope, AR. Belva was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the Provencal First Baptist Church. She believed in sharing the love of Christ wherever she went. Even in the last three years that she spent at Courtyard of Natchitoches, she witnessed to the staff and residents, having a great impact on their lives. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Belva was a homemaker her whole life, in which she spent her time nurturing and caring for her entire family. She was a great cook, had a contagious smile, and generally just loved people. "Pearlie", a black poodle, was her favorite pet. Above all, Belva loved Christ. She would always remind her children that the most important thing in life was to make sure of their salvation, and would want the last words of Philippians 2:12 to resound in everyone's ears; "...seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling." She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Janice Reed of Stonewall, LA and Pam King of Natchitoches, LA, Larry Davis of Provencal, LA, Ralph Davis of Provencal, LA, and Wilbur Davis, Jr., of Whitehouse, TX; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, J.W. Vines of Apple Valley, CA and Jimmy Vines of Ontario, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Davis, Sr.; her son, Hugh Carroll Davis; her parents, Carson Vines and Ethel Ward Vines; and one brother, Charles Vines. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jonathan King, Kendall Davis, Larry Davis, Jr., Jay Avnet, Phillip Reed, Jr., David Davis, Brandon Wayne Davis, and Lee LaFosse.
