Funeral services for Maxine Prudhomme will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Fr. Thomas Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a rosary held at 7:00 pm during the visitation, on March 5, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Maxine Prudhomme, 87 years of age, passed away March 2, 2014. Maxine was born September 17, 1926 to the late Murphy Hays and Amy Dowden Hays in Kisatchie, LA. She attended Normal College for 2 years, where she was involved in several sports, on top of her studies. Maxine was a devoted and loving wife of 63 years to her late husband, Mr. John Prudhomme. As a wife, she loved like no other, as a mother, her care was unending, but her light really shown when she was around her grandchildren. She loved and spoiled them to the best of her ability. She enjoyed spending her time sewing as well. She was a hard worker, whether it was keeping books for her family's farm, for the Auction Barn in Clarence, for Peoples Bank, or for whatever she found herself involved in. She always gave her all.
She had a smile that would light up the room, and was a caregiver not just to her family, but to all who needed help. She lived her life by the Golden Rule, and taught her children to do the same. She was involved in several organizations and memberships over the years, including the Catholic Daughters Assn., LA Cattleman's Assn., Women of the Moose in MacClenny, FL, St Charles Chapel of Bermuda, and St Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose.
Maxine was the anchor of her family. Showing them the value of a solid Christian lifestyle. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by four daughters, LuAnne P. Terry of Bermuda, LA, Angela P. Taylor and husband Robert of Bossier City, LA, Lee P. Vickers of Bermuda, LA, and Clare P. Trichel and husband Dewayne of Creston, LA; two sons, John E Prudhomme, Jr. and Pat Paulson of Macclenny, FL and William J. Prudhomme and wife Ruth of Bermuda, LA; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanette Fleniken of Baton Rouge, LA, Laquita Carrier of Alexandria, LA, and Virginia Mormon of Pride, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Prudhomme; her parents, Murphy Hays and Amy Thelma Dowden Hays; an infant son; two grandsons, Dustin A. Terry and David E. Blalock; two brothers, Billy T. Hays and Gary K. Hays; and one son-in-law, Randy Vickers.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandchildren Chris Berry, Seth Prudhomme, Garrick Vercher, Sarah Prudhomme, Nicholas Trichel, and Daniel Trichel.
