Louis Michael Davis

Louis Michael Davis, age 65, of Montgomery, La., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 PM Saturday, July 12, 2008. Funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 12, 2008. Interment will be at Montgomery Cemetery in Montgomery, La. Mr. Louis was a very loving and fun loving person. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Besides his family, his great love in life was horses. As a child, he worked at the Kentucky Derby, and, later on in life, he raised thoroughbred horses on his own. He held a degree in Animal Sciences. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he spent two tours of duty. He was awarded a bronze star for meritorious service. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Michael Davis and Edna (Johns) Davis; one uncle who he called Uncle Johns; and a close friend, Joe Sloan. He is survived by his wife Karen S. Davis; one daughter, Kara Margarett Davis of Natchitoches, La.; two sons, Michael Joseph Davis of Colfax, La. and Matthew Grant Davis of Montgomery, La.; one step-son, Gilbert A Vivas and wife Jennifer of Montgomery, La.; three grandchildren, Landon Michael Davis of Verda, La., Elizabeth Vivas of Montgomery, La., and Elena Vivas of Montgomery, La.; one sister, Karen Stinnett and husband Mike of Canada; one niece, Nicole Stinnett of Canada; two close friends, Frank DeAngelo of Chicago, IL and Cletus Brown of Brookshire, Tx.; and two brother-in-laws, Jerry Patterson of Montgomery, La. and Jim Patterson of Colfax, La. Pallbearers will be Michael Davis, Matthew Davis, Gilbert Vivas, Japheth Cunningham, Cade Fletcher, and Rene Deal. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank DeAngelo and Cletus Brown.
