Virginia Elizabeth Smith

Virginia Elizabeth Cox Smith, age 82, of Campti, LA, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Long Term Care Unit in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. The visitation will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, July 16, 2008. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM during the visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Nativity) Catholic Church in Campti, at 10:00 AM July 17, 2008. Interment will be at the Nativity Catholic Church Cemetery in Campti. Betty was born in Campti, LA and graduated from Campti High School. She completed business college in Shreveport, and worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company. She lived for 17 years in Noble, LA with her husband and daughter. They returned to Campti, where she was active in her church as well as the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Pink Ladies. At Nativity, she was especially active in the Cemetery Association, and the Ladies Altar Society. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Smith, and son-in-law, Robert Maxwell, of Rowlett, TX; her brother, John Cox and wife Emogene of Arvada, CO; brother, JC Cox and wife Lucia of Seville, Spain; and brother, George Cox and wife Penny of Tullahoma, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Smith of Campti; her parents, Ambrose and Virginia Cox of Campti; her sister, Mary Etta Williford of Jasper, TX; and her brothers, Carl Cox of Shreveport, LA, Earl (Dick) Cox of Campti, and James Cox of Shreveport. In lieu of flowers, it would have pleased her to know that donations were made to the Nativity Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, or the Nativity Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary, c/o Nativity Catholic Church, 119 Tally Street, Campti, LA 71411.
