Funeral services for Charles Hoyt Shoemake will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Old Pisgah Baptist Church in Belmont, LA with Rev. Glen Howard and Nathan Hines officiating. Interment will follow at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Belmont, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on March 26, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Charles Shoemake, 73 years of age, passed away March 24, 2014. Charles was born June 15, 1940 in Belmont, LA.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was spending time in his garden, nurturing pecan trees, hunting, or fishing. He had a larger than life personality and never met a stranger. He made everyone around him feel special, and everyone was his "favorite". He was a hard worker, retiring from the oil field in the Hobbs, NM area. He grew up in the Belmont community, graduating from Belmont High School. He was an avid basketball player and fan in his high school days, and as part of the team, set several records that went unbroken for numerous years. He was dearly loved by his family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patsy Ann Kelly Shoemake of Hobbs, NM; three sons, Kerry Shoemake and wife Teressia of Tuttley, OK, Earl Shoemake and wife Julie of Seminole, TX, and Tracy Shoemake and wife Kristi of Hobbs, NM; one daughter, Kimberly Aguirre and husband Daniel of Lubbock, TX; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Shoemake and wife Jennifer, Angela Savedra, Keeli Hines and husband Nathan, Chase Shoemake and wife Amanda, Taryn Shoemake, Kaegan Shoemake, Kalea Shoemake, Mackenzie Shoemake, Jadyn Shoemake, Caleb Aguirre, and Addison Aguirre; five great grandchildren, Aurora Savendra, Gunner Hines, Cason Hines, Analeigh Shoemake, and Kyler Shoemake; and two sisters, Esther Campbell and husband Troy of Belmont, LA and Ellen Lewis of Carencro, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Shoemake and Winnie Kelly Shoemake; one sister, Loretta Beal; and one brother, W.M. "Bo" Kelly.
