A graveside service for Mrs. Bobbye Nell Ellis will be 10 am Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches with Rev. Tommy Rush officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Monday, April 7th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis, 78 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away April 5, 2014 in Shreveport. She was born June 11, 1935 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late W.A. Fife and late Erie (Aymond) Fife. She earned her undergraduate degree in education from Louisiana College and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Northwestern State University. She taught in the Natchitoches Parish school system for many years and later was a supervisor for the Follow Through Program, which assisted children with disadvantaged backgrounds in the elementary school level. Mrs. Ellis was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Cunningham and her husband Joe Cunningham, Jr. of Natchitoches. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Joseph Payne Cunningham, III and his wife Christa of Lafayette, Caitlin Cunningham of Dallas, TX and Scott Cunningham of Dallas, TX; and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Cunningham.Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Joe Cunningham, Jr., Joseph Payne Cunningham, III, Scott Cunningham, Dr. James Carter, Tommy Dunagan, and Sam Watson.
