Mrs. Barbara Bruning, a longtime resident of Clarence, passed away on April 19, 2014, at the age of 74. She was born July 24, 1939, in Ringgold, LA, to James Olan Campbell and Muriel Guenther Campbell. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Alfred Aaron “Beddie” Bruning Sr., daughter Kelly Jeane Bruning Wicks, of Valdosta, GA, and son Alfred Aaron Bruning Jr., of Rockwall, TX, mother Muriel Guenther Campbell, of Memphis, TN, sister Jackie Ann Babin, of Germantown, TN; brother James Olan Campbell Jr., of Orlando, FL and 17 nieces and nephews. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Glennie Jeane Wicks and Lorrie Bruning Wicks both of Valdosta, GA, and Thomas Aaron Bruning and Shelby Jane Bruning both of Rockwall, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, James Olan Campbell Sr. and her brother Julius Calvin Campbell.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Barbara received both her Bachelors of Science in Education and Master’s Degree in Education. She went on to teach business education for Natchitoches Parish school system for 25 years and was recognized in 1976 for “Outstanding Leaders in Elementary and Secondary Education.” Apart from teaching, her other passion was her involvement in church; Barbara loved the Lord and was an active, longtime member of Clarence Baptist Church. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5pm until 9pm on Monday April 21 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, and again Tuesday from 1pm until 2pm at Clarence Baptist Church. A service to honor the life of Barbara Jeane Bruning will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Clarence Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches.
