Ramona 'Mona' Kerry Brown

Funeral service for Ramona 'Mona' Kerry Brown will be held 9:30 AM Saturday, July 26, 2008 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Chopin, La. with Rev. Harold Imamshah officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Cemetery at Chopin, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 7 PM in the funeral home. Mrs. Brown, 74, of Natchitoches, La., died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Natchitoches Regional Long Term Care Unit in Natchitoches, La. She was a native of Chopin, La. She graduated from Cloutierville High School in 1951. Former Mayor Joe Sampite was one of her classmates. Mona loved her Lord, her family, her music, and she loved to dance. Mona was a former member of the Cane River Stompers that performed at the local nursing homes many times. She also recorded and wrote country music for the Glenn and Marvel Labels in Hammond, Indiana during the late 1950's and 60's. She was once a guest on the Earnest Tubb Late Show on W.S.M. Radio Station in Nashville, TN and The Ralph Emory Talk Show also on W.S.M. in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pleasant Kerry and Elizabeth Carnahan Kerry; two sisters, Juanita Smith and Gloria Delrie; two brothers, Pat Kerry and Dempsey Kerry. She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Taylor Rustay and husband Kevin of Shreveport, La.; one son, David Brown, Jr. and wife Gayla of Natchitoches, La.; five grandchildren, Jessica Rachal, Thomas Alton Rachal, II, David Brown, III, Philip Brown, and Weston Ivey; four great grandchildren, Dominick Rachal, Harmony Jackson, John Jackson, Jr., and Thomas Ramon Jackson; one sister, Shirley White of Marco, La.; one brother, John Zane Kerry of Shreveport, La. Pallbearers will be David Brown III, Philip Brown, Alton Rachal II, Kevin Rustay, Lawrence 'Skeet' Delrie, Jr., and Curtis Delrie.
