A service celebrating the going home of Sister Clarice Vinzant will be at 2 pm Monday, April 28, 2014 at Campti United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Thomas K. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cumberland Cemetery in Coushatta. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Campti United Pentecostal Church, Campti, LA.
Mrs. Vinzant was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and that love carried over to all who knew her. Being a compassionate woman, she never met a stranger. Her life was a living testimony and she shared the Lord with everyone she met. An avid reader of her Bible, she would typically read the entire scriptures 5 or 6 times a year. She was an Auxiliary leader in the Campti United Pentecostal Church for over 30 years. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and her church but they will have the assurance of being reunited with her again.
Mrs. Vinzant is preceded in death by her loving husband John Edward Vinzant; parents, Clarence and Wilma Tingle Layfield; one daughter, Billie Earp; one son, William Augustus Vinzant; one sister, Jeanette Watson; five brothers, Wilton Layfield, Ardis Layfield, Dennis Layfield, Clarence Layfield, Jr., Louis Layfield, and Shelby Layfield.
She is survived by her son Clarence E. Vinzant; two daughters, Judy (Glenn) Gourdon and Margaret (Jim) Earp of Coushatta, LA; two sisters Kathleen Pickett and Laura Jerrell of Coushatta, LA. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Shane Coleman, Sean Tomas, Steven Wales, Richard Pickett, Jerry Wayne Hamilton, and Lee Thomisee. Honorary pallbearers will be WC Pickett and Wilburn Layfield.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations under the account of Glenn and Judy Gourdon be made to American Bank, 1625 Ringgold Ave, Coushatta, LA 71019.
