Joseph "Joe" Holland, 94, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Natchitoches, LAGraveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Charlie Cemetery in Charlie, TX with Mark Hendry officiating.  Arrangements are under the directions of Owens and Brumley in Wichita Falls, TX.  You may access their website or post thoughts and memories on their online guestbook:  http://www.owensandbrumley.com/Joe was born on March 11, 1920 in Randlett, OK to Lenton and Maggie Holland.  He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Jean Surrena and her husband Dave of Natchitoches, LA; a sister Jewell Dean Olsen of McKinney, TX; a brother Foye L. Holland of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren Christie Salim and her husband Skeeter of Natchitoches, LA and Julie Prewitt of Austin, TX; three great grandchildren Daniel, Ben, and Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Gladys Vella Holland; three brothers, Walter, Mike and Midge; and two sisters Mary Ruth and Bessie.Joe married Gladys Thompson September 5, 1942 during his service in WWII.  He worked at Sheppard Air Force Base, he also enjoyed barbering.  They moved to Charlie, TX in 1956 where they owned and operated Holland's Orchard for 49 years.  They were active members in the Church of Christ as well as donating their time and energy towards the development of the Texoma Christian Care Center.  Upon retirement, they moved to Natchitoches, LA to join their daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The Charlie Community Center or Charlie Cemetery in Charlie, TX.
