Johnnie Marie Wise Mallory passed peacefully from this life into the hands of her Lord Jesus Christ on the evening of May 13th, 2014 in Oklahoma City OK.
Johnnie was born in Shreveport to the late J. Ben Wise and Evlyn Wortman Wise in May of 1928. She attended St Vincent’s Academy and Byrd High School, graduating in 1945. Johnnie enrolled at Northwestern in the Fall of 1945, attended college there until 1947, and was employed by the Veterans Administration in Shreveport from 1947-48.
Johnnie was joined in marriage to Max H Mallory, Jr in 1948, and they made their home in Natchitoches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max in 1988, her beloved grandson Paul Ritchie in 1993, and her loving sister Marion Wise Miller in 2004.
Left to cherish her life are her children, Sheri Mallory Ritchie of Katy, TX, John and Anna Jean Mallory of Oklahoma City, and 3 grandchildren J. Matthew Mallory, Katie Mallory Williams and husband Jordan, and Janna Clare Mallory, all of Oklahoma, as well as her dear sister Evlyn Wise DeZonia of Memphis, TN, niece Noni Gay of Houston TX, and a host of other relatives and friends from over 60 years in Natchitoches.
Johnnie has been a member of Immaculate Conception since 1948, enjoyed membership in Catholic Daughters of America for over 50 years, and Beta Sigma Phi since 1961. She retired from Northwestern in June of 1993 after almost 20 years of employment, and later served as Program Administrator for Restoration of Immaculate Conception Church, and was also Altar Society Chair and on Pastoral Council at Holy Cross Church.
Visitation will be from 5:30pm to 7pm on Friday May 16th 2014 at Blanchard-St Denis Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday May 17th at The Minor Basilica of Immaculate Conception, with burial to follow at Fern Park Cemetery.
