James Carl Gilcrease

Funeral services for James Carl Gilcrease will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Matthew Pagels officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on May 23, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. James Gilcrease, 80 years of age, passed away May 20, 2014. James was born October 29, 1933 in Cypress, LA. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 thru 1956 in the South Pacific on the USS Bremerton. He was also a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge #38 for several years. James was a loving father, a devoted husband, and wonderful grandfather. He loved his family tremendously, especially his grandchildren. He was a hard worker, working as a carpenter, painter, and sheetrock hanger for many yeras. He was loved by his family and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou Ainsworth Gilcrease of Campti, LA; his children, Mickey Gilcrease and wife Peggy of Keithville, LA, Dano Gilcrease and wife Patsy of Bossier City, LA; Ronny Gilcrease and wife Teri of Orange Field, TX, Cindy Gilcrease of Natchitoches, LA; and Peyton Gilcrease and wife Patricia of Campti, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colvin W. Gilcrease and Bessie Bennett Gilcrease.
