Funeral service for William Herman Ragan will be held 4 PM Sunday, August 10, 2008 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Benny Alford officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery at Natchitoches, La.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 4 PM until 8 PM in the funeral home.
Mr. Ragan, 80, of Clarence, La. went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2008, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Clarence, La. He was a retired cattleman and merchant. He was a member of Clarence Baptist Church, a member of Cattleman's Association, and American Legion. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army, 321 Signal Corps Battalion of the Eighth Army. He received the Korean SVC Medal with Bronze SVC Star and the U.N. SVC Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. A. Ragan and Elsie Arledge Ragan; three sisters, A'Dair Ragan Singletary, Betty Sue Ragan, and Mable Lee Ragan Black.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Rachal Ragan of Clarence, La.: two daughters, Ella Sue Ragan Fredieu and husband Darrell and Jamie Clara Ragan Alexander all of Clarence, La.; two sons, Herman Wayne Ragan and wife Tina of Natchitoches, La. and Samuel Leroy Ragan and wife Robin of Clarence, La.; eight grandchildren, Joshua and wife Kristi, Brett, Alex, Kasey, Austin, Taylor, Chelsi, and Morgan; one niece, Jane Flynt and husband D. C. of Lake Charles, La.; two nephews, Eston Singletary and wife Ruth and Allen Singletary and wife Vicki all of Lake Charles, La.
Pallbearers will be Brett Fredieu, Joshua Fredieu, Alex Ragan, Austin Alexander, D. C. Flynt, and Allen Ragan Singletary.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jennings, Douglas Rachal, and the Clarence Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to Clara Springs Cottage Fund, Clarence Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, or the charity of the donor's choice.
