Florence Conant

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Florence Conant will be at 11 am Friday June, 27, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 am until the time of Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 am. Mrs. Conant, 84 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Natchitoches. She was born August 15, 1929 to John and Amelia (Sarpy) LaCour in Isle Brevelle, LA. She was the 10th of 11 siblings. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Mothers. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston, Conant, Jr.; daughters, Dorothy Chevalier and Carol Darville, great grandchildren, Charmaine Chevalier and April Chevalier, as well as eight siblings. Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Dudley Conant and his wife Joyce of Natchitoches, and Carl Conant and his wife Sonya of Natchitoches; sister, Mary Louise Rachal of Detroit, MI; brother, Earl LaCour and his wife Amelia of Chicago, IL. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Yolanda Reed and her husband Carey of Natchitoches, Roderick Rachal and his wife Nicole of Charlotte, NC, Michela Darville and Ashley Darville both of Baton Rouge, Carlos Conant of Shreveport and Cameron Conant of Natchitoches; as well as 8 great grandchildren, Alecia Chevalier, Preston Rachal, Miles Rachal, McKenzie Conant, Makayla Owens, Jordan Blaze Rachal, Dalton Rachal, and Malcolm Darville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Arthur Metoyer, Amos Bradley, Alan LaCour, Raymond LaCour, Jr., Joshua Owusu-duku and her godchild, Milford Roque. Honorary pallbearers will be Dudley Conant, Carl Conant, Earl LaCour, Roderick Rachal, Carey Reed, Carlos Conant and Cameron Conant.
