Hazel Eldridge, 84 years of age, passed away June 27, 2014. Hazel was born June 15, 1930 in Orange, TX. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. If her life were to be summed up in a word, it would be faithful. She was faithful to her husband and children. She was faithful to her grandchildren. But most importantly, she was faithful to God and her church. She never missed church for any reason, unless it was a grave illness. She loved to cook, and would spend her time making meatpies and hot tamales so she could sell them to raise money for the church. She was a hard worker and she loved to travel. She enjoyed spending time on the Pentecostal Camp Grounds in Tioga, LA, and went every chance that she could. She is survived by her children, Elzie Eldridge, Jr. and wife Maudrie of Baton Rouge, LA, Robert T. Eldridge of Arizona, Henrietta Sue McFerrin of Robeline, LA, Helen Eldridge of Natchitoches, LA, and Oneda Eldridge of Shreveport, LA; her daughter-in-law, Rachal Eldridge of Shreveport, LA; twenty grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza Eldridge, Sr.; her parents, Jack Hughes and Peral Taylor; one son, John William Eldridge, Sr.; one daughter, Francis Eldridge; three grandchildren, Amos David McFerrin, Jr., Patricia Ann McFerrin, and Clayton Seplavado; three sisters, Novelle Shugart, Bessie Mae Robertson, and Joyce Howerton; and one brother, Calvin Lee Hughes. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fountain of Life U.P.C in memory of Hazel. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr.s' Ingram and Kautz, and to Geneva Raphael for all of their loving kindness, care, and support.
