Barbara, 48 years of age and a life-long resident of Provencal, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with ALS. She will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate mother and sister. Her love for her family was most important but a close second was the work she did at Provencal Junior High, working as a paraprofessional for special education children. She loved all the children she assisted through their formative educational years. A long-time member of First Baptist of Provencal, her church family meant so much to her, especially during her illness. She was a vivacious reader and loved spending time outside in her many flower beds. A devoted mother, she enjoyed nothing more than being involved in her children’s many extracurricular activities. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Selena Wester and Caleb Wester; mother, Mary Ruth Roberts; siblings, Bethel Roberts, Brenda Roberts, Barney Roberts and his wife Crystal; and the father of her children, Billy Wester. She was blessed with a grandson, Easton Sandifer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Leslie Roberts and a sister, Bonnie Roberts.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Barney Roberts, Robbie Dupree, Michael Brown, Brian Glenn, Carson Custis, and Zack Sandifer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Wester, Sean Wester, Caleb Wester and Easton Sandifer.
The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Natchitoches Community Care Center, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center ICU staff, Dr. Bryan and Cissy Picou, and Dr. Kathleen Kautz for the care they provided Barbara during her illness. A special thanks to the many friends and church family that visited and prayed for her during this difficult time.
Donations in Barbara’s name may be made to The ALS Association, 1275 K Street, NW Suite 250, Washington, DC 20005.
