Porfirio Franco

June 6, 1949 — August 20, 2008

Mr. Porfirio Franco, 59, of Natchitoches, passed away at his residence on August 20, 2008. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Reverend Jason Gootee will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday. Mr Franco was born June 6, 1949 in Durango, Mexico. He served as a sargent for the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving two tours of duty. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing every chance he could get. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 27 years, Belinda Franco of Natchitoches; his mother Matilde Franco; brother, Ramon Franco and his wife Mariette all of Lehigh Acres, Florida; step-son, Rickii Maurice Breithaupt of Austin, Texas; nephews, George Franco of San Antonio, Texas, Alberto Franco of Fredericksburg, West Virginia, Bernardo Franco of San Antonio, Texas and Carlos Franco of San Antonio, Texas; and a large extended family including aunts, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. “Too Soon” What’s a timely death? Living to a good old age and having great wealth? Or living a life of simplicity And finally arriving in that promised heavenly city? Many people I’ve met, But it’s only a few that I choose not to forget. Being a Christian doesn’t help you Be able to deal with death any better. Losing a loved one only seems like Your burdens have only gotten heavier. It’s a word of hope I would like to give. It’s a word I believe because God cannot lie and He said, “Even though you die, in Christ Jesus you live.” Whether your 18 or 92 you can have peace. Even if you truly don’t understand it all, Just trust in Jesus and your sorrow will decrease. Death hasn’t shown its face in my life many times But I have to admit, whom I may lose next Sometimes crossed my mind. If you’ve lost someone recently, know that you’re not alone. We are only strangers here and soon we’ll all go home. Jesus didn’t die in vain and He rose So he could come back for you. Don’t let death defeat you because it has no power over you. Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! Let your tears be of joy and praise. You sorrow now, but look for Jesus; Like a thief, He’s coming any hour or any day.
