A service to honor the life of Mrs. Melba (Brister) Rutledge will be at 10 am Monday, August 11, 2014 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro Dean Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday the 10th at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rutledge, 94 years of age, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born October 11, 1919 to Jessie and Rena (Russell) Brister in Flora, LA. Being a homemaker and taking care of her family brought her the most joy in life. She truly loved visiting with her family and friends especially over a cup of coffee. Her hobbies included quilting, hunting, fishing and watching game shows. A long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her grandsons, Daniel Ebert and his wife Carla of Marthaville, Douglas Page, Jr. of Bossier City and Tracy Page of Natchitoches; great grandchildren, Meagan Dortlon, Wesley Ebert, Bailey Ebert and Gracie Ebert; a special niece, Lura Lynn of Houston, TX; as well as extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Daniel Wilson Page; her second husband, W. C. Rutledge; her son, Douglas Page; her daughter, Gervis Ebert; and a grandson, Steve Huffman.
