Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Gill will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Bro. Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on August 16, 2014 at Blanchard – St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La. Jerry Gill, age 73, passed away August 15, 2014. He was born on December 15, 1940 in Shreveport, La to the late Monroe Aaron and Mary Marguerite Perkins Gill. He was a hard-working man, dedicated to his family, and will be missed by all who knew him. Jerry was a graduate of C E Byrd High School in Shreveport, La. He served in the US Navy for four years, where he achieved the rank of Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class. After his discharge from the military, he returned to Shreveport where met Sheila Ann Cardino. They married on May 10, 1963. After relocating to the Mississippi gulf coast, Jerry attended Jackson County Junior College where he obtained certification in refrigeration prior to starting his business in Pascagoula/Biloxi area. The family moved to Natchitoches in 1978 where he briefly worked for Jackie Allen before obtaining his general contracting license. For the next thirty years, he built numerous homes in Natchitoches and surrounding communities before retiring in 2012. Jerry was involved in the formation of Natchitoches Dixie Youth and was a volunteer coach for many years. He was also a member of Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church. An avid sports fan, Jerry loved the New Orleans Saints as well as LSU football and baseball. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Cardino Gill; one daughter, Dana Gill Daigre (Butch) of Alexandria, La; two sons, Ray Gill (Kasey) of Alexandria, La and David Gill (Shannon) of McKinney, Tx; four grandchildren, Joshua Daigre (Sarah), Hillary Daigre, Beau Crenshaw, and Ava Rae Gill, all of Alexandria, La; and two great-grandchildren, Lily Grace Daigre and Kadence Danielson; one brother, Monroe C Gill of Olive Branch, Ms; one sister, Diane Baldwin of West Memphis, Ar. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Riley Ray Gill.
