Funeral services for Justin Christophe will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose, LA with Fr. Thomas Paul officiating. Interment will follow at St Augustine Cemetery in Melrose, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm on October 01, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Justin “Horace” Christophe, Sr. was born on August 19, 1916 in Bermuda, LA to the late Joseph and Rosine Marie (Conant) Christophe. He was one of eleven children. He married the late Oreline Sarpy on April 13, 1941. Together they raised their family on Cane River. Horace, 98, passed Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Natchitoches, LA. He was a native resident of Cane River, LA. He was a fisherman, farmer, active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Horace and Oreline were married for sixty-two years. During those sixty-two years, they had nine children. Their four daughters include Anna Dell Balthazar and husband Alphonse, Rose Ella Tobar and husband Angelo, Lydia Marie Lewis and husband Bo, and Mary Madeline Reed and husband Rick. Their five sons include Justin Christophe Jr. and wife Elsie, David Christophe and wife Cloteel, Anthony Christophe and wife Mary Ellen, Daniel Christophe and wife Carol, and Timothy Christophe and wife Marie Grace. Horace is the brother of six sisters and four brothers: Irma, Clotile, Carrie Lee, Theresa, Henrietta, Elizabeth, Andres, Ernest, Percy and Charles. Horace has 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
