George Edward Cormane

George Edward Cormane, age 94, of Natchitoches, La., died Sunday, September 28, 2008, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Retirement Center in Natchitoches, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches, La. The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2008, with Rev. Wayne Hicks and Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Natchitoches, La. Mr. George was an avid outdoors man. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time in the great outdoors. He loved to play and pick with his children and friends. He was an outgoing man who loved life and lived to the fullest. He loved his family, and he loved spending time together with them. He retired after 31 years of service at the Tennessee Gas Company. He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the local masonic lodge in Natchitoches. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cormane and Carrie Honeycutt Cormane; three sisters, Gertrude Reedy, Maude Stroud, and Stella Garza; one brother, Donald Cormane; one grandson, David Bryant; two great-grandsons, Dallas Martin and Christian Martin; and one son-in-law; Louis W. McBride. He is survived by his wife of seventy-five years, Viola Cormane; six daughters, Marie Allen and husband J.W. of Summit, Ms., Lillie Mae Johnson and husband Eddie of Natchitoches, La., Robbie Sower and husband Harold of Bellview, Fl., LaVerne Bryant and husband Gail of Winnfield, La., Gloria Goudeau and husband Clyde of Osyka, Ms., and Donna Craig and husband Tommy of Simsboro, La.; one son, Paul Cormane, Sr. and wife Linda of Natchitoches, La.; Twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren; four sisters, Gertie Perry of Denver, Co., Lorraine Wilson of Fort Worth, Tx., Bertie Lee Brown of Montgomery, La., and Sarah Jane Foy of Keithville, La.; and three brothers, J. B. Cormane of Fort Worth, Tx., Paul Cormane of Shreveport, La., and W.C. Cormane and wife Sissy of Montgomery, La. Pallbearers will be Mr. George's grandsons, Daryl Bryant, Al Whitt, Brandon Cormane, Jerry McBride, Jimmy Johnson, and Jamie Allen. Honorary Pallbearers will also be grandsons; Jason Allen, Everett Whitt, Richard Bryant, Dwight Bryant, Kerry McBride, and Paul Cormane, Jr.
