Ruby Lee Chapman Tanzey

Funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Lee Chapman Tanzey will be at 10 am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Cook and Bro. Dwight St. Andre officiating. Interment will follow at Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, October 10th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Mrs. Ruby Tanzey, a resident of Chopin, LA, passed away Wednesday October 8, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born February 4, 1929 to Antoine and Cecilia (Basco) Coutee in Cloutierville, LA. She was a long time member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. Ruby took great honor in caring for her family and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Chapman; her parents, Antoine and Cecilia Basco Coutee; brothers, Eddie “Sonny” Coutee and Ellis Coutee; and a sister, Bessie Coutee Corbin. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Alvin Tanzey; son, Roger Chapman and fiance’ Debbie Hardy ; daughter, Carol Chapman Jowers and husband Billy Joe; and a sister, Gertrude Coutee Burris. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Derek Jowers, Candace Jowers Dunnam, Keith Chapman, and Kim Chapman Mixon; ten great grandchildren and two stepsons, Pat Tanzey and Jamie Tanzey. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Brett Waltermeyer, Blake Waltermeyer, Derek Jowers, Sr., Derek Jowers, Jr., Keith Chapman and Dirk Dunnam. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ruby’s name. The family would like to extend their thanks to The Courtyard of Natchitoches and to Hospice of Natchitoches for the care of Ruby during such a difficult time.
