A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Janine Rachal Waters will be at 2 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Stephen Soares serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 28th in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Waters, 64 years of age, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 in New Orleans, LA. She was born March 29, 1950 to Nalof and Viola (Vercher) Rachal in Lubbock, TX. Janine was very dedicated to her church, her work and most importantly her family. A long-time member of Immaculate Conception and a 39 year member of the church choir, her involvement in church was so very important to her. She retired as the Coordinator of the Graduate School for Northwestern State University in 2013. Janine was recognized by receiving the Nth Degree in 2013 from NSU; the Nth Degree is one of the university’s highest honors and is bestowed for going the extra mile in meritorious service to mankind. It is presented to those whose professional responsibilities and various other roles in making the world better are carried out to the Nth Degree. She was a loving mother and grandmother and made providing for her family a top priority. Her generosity was measured by her desire to help anyone in need at any time always putting her needs second. She loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting and was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Alison Waters and her partner Dusty Waters of Campti and Layna Waters Jones of Clarence. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Chelsea Ryder, Kristen Ryder, Skylar Ryder, Tyler Ryder, Casey Jones and Jordan Demery; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Alixsondria Hannegan and Abron Jace Ryder; and a brother, Nalof J. Rachal, Jr. and his wife Pat Rachal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abron L. Waters and her parents.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Eugene Pridgen, Dana Wayne Rachal, Steven Bary, Eugene Jones, Justin Bliss and Johnathan Bliss.
