A service to honor the life of Mrs. Linda Dorris will be at 1 pm Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dorris, 65 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Alexandria, LA. She was born December 14, 1948 to Thomas and Faye (Kisner) Turner in Eudora, MS. She taught elementary education for over 35 years, with her career spanning from schools in Mississippi and Louisiana. A member of Westside Baptist Church of Natchitoches and a Sunday school teacher for many years, her church family was very important to her. She was an active member of The Gideon’s Auxillary, an organization dedicated to distributing Bibles to those in need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, David E. Dorris of Natchtioches, LA; her parents, Thomas and Faye Turner of Natchitoches, LA; daughters, LeAnn Dorris Thames and her husband Monte of Hallsville, TX, Stephanie Dorris Richardson and her husband Zach of New Orleans, LA, Pamela Dorris Freeman and her husband Garrett of Otis, LA; and a sister, Gaye Turner Bradford of Greenville, MS. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Rachel Thames, Dillon Thames, Mackenzie Richardson, Deacon Richardson, Nathan Freeman and Sydney Freeman.
