Funeral services for Fred Roberts will be at 2 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Brother Olan McLaren and Sister Linda Chance officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Coulee Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Campti, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, November 5th at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Fred, age 85 and a resident of Campti, LA, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014. He was born October 4, 1929 to Will Henry and Ella (Jones) Roberts in Campti, LA. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and a granddaughter, Amy James. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Marie (Fredieu) Roberts of Campti; one son, Dewey Glenn Roberts and his wife, Debra of Campti; two daughters, Carolyn Elaine Miller and her husband Collin of Campti and Debbie Jean James and her husband Lane of Campti; one sister, Opal Stiles of Campti. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Dewey Richard Roberts, Heath Roberts and his wife Lindsey, Josh Roberts, Matt Roberts and his wife Corianne, Chris Roberts and his wife Katie, Roger Dale Hines, Jr. and his wife Christy, and Lana James Hightower and her husband Dustin; as well as 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his 6 grandsons, Dewey Richard Roberts, Heath Marshall Roberts, Charles (Matt) Matthew Roberts, Joshua Derrick Roberts, Christopher (Boo) Frederick Roberts, and Roger Dale Hines, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Hightower, Mickey Gilcrease, and David Gallien. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Overton Brooks VA Hospital for the care of Fred during such a difficult time.
