Funeral service for Clyde “Rudy” Rachal will be 2 pm Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Kyle Clayton officiating. Interment with military honors will be at L. C. Weaver Cemetery in Campti, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Saturday, November 22nd at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Clyde Rachal was born December 18, 1931 to Gus and Dona Rachal in Campti, LA. He married Jean Basco on December 25, 1955. They had two daughters, Patsy Knotts and Peggy Phillips. He was blessed with 3 granddaughters, Trandy, Sandy and Crystal; a grandson, Josh; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 5 sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all dearly loved him.
Clyde was drafted by the U. S. Army on February 21, 1952. He served in the 1st Company, 15th Infantry Regiment in the Korean War. He was wounded on February 17, 1952 defending his country that he loved so much. The following day he received 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his valor.
Clyde was a true outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting, especially frog gigging. He was an exceptional gardener especially when it came to growing roses.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Cudder Slayton, Robert Martin, James Slayton, Josh Knotts, Ricky Denler and Robert Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Knotts, Johnny Aaron, Buddy Cannon, Clarence Ostanger, James Mc Clure and Larry Ward.
