Joseph “Joe” LeVasseur, 58 years of age, passed away December 6, 2014. He was born August 23, 1956 in Natchitoches, LA. Joe was a unique character, one who found pleasure in living a simple and quiet life. He was a "Man's man" and a hard worker, but had a humble spirit and would help anyone in need. He was generous and kind, and loved his family dearly. Joe would make weekly trips on Sundays to check on the people that he loved, and doted on his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. Motorcycles were a part of his life. He loved to ride, and was a member of numerous riding clubs. He loved the outdoors as well, and he would spend time hunting or fishing as often as he could. Joe had a green thumb, and could raise a wonderful garden, which he loved to share the bounty out of with everyone. He will be missed.
He is survived by his sisters, Karen LeVasseur Poche and husband Ronnie of Natchitoches, LA and Barbara LeVasseur Thomas of Bossier City, LA; two brothers, Luther Glenn "Butch" LeVasseur of Natchitoches, LA and Sidney Carroll LeVasseur of Arp, TX; two special friends, Johnny McCrory and his wife Tammy of Fairview Alpha, LA and Katie Johnson of Natchitoches, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludger Frank LeVasseur and Maggie Nobles LeVasseur; two brothers, John Ludger "Sonny" LeVasseur and James Cleveland "Jackie" LeVasseur; and his brother-in-law, Johnny Thomas.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr.'s Chris Ingram and Archie Breazeale, Jr. for their care and friendship to Joe over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red River Cowboy Church at Lake End, LA, or to a charity of your choice in memory of Joe.
