Rev. Edwin H. Fenton

May 2, 1941 — December 6, 2014

On May 2, 1941, in Sacul, Texas, Edwin Harrison Fenton was born to Jess and Vera Fenton. He joined his sister Jeanette and older brother Jess, Jr. God called him home on December 6, 2014 at age 73 after a sudden heart attack. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Brian Jennings, will be on Wednesday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Jennings Chapel Church in Marthaville, LA. Burial service will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 at Blanchard-St. Denis in Natchitoches, LA, and at Jennings Chapel on Wednesday from 9 until the time of service at 2:00. Edwin was saved at age 12, enjoyed Texas youth camps, was called to preach in his teens, and attended Westminster College where he met and married Ivadell Jennings. God blessed them with four children and many years of ministry in churches from Texas to Georgia. His last 31 years of ministry were spent in Louisiana, and he was currently pastoring Jennings Chapel in Marthaville, LA. He was truly blessed to have known so many wonderful people in many churches. He served in various positions on annual and general conference levels in the Congregational Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ivadell Jennings Fenton, children Marilyn Mitchell and husband Jim of Arlington, TX; Daren Fenton and wife Robin of Zwolle, LA; Patty Bruce and husband Chris of Anniston, AL; and Davy Fenton and wife Michelle of Laurel, MS; grandchildren Micah and Wesley Mitchell, Destiney and Timothy Fenton, Brennan and Logan Bruce, and Carter, Danielle, and Ross Fenton; one sister, Jeanette Coker and husband Ted of Tyler, TX; two sisters-in-law Mozell Liddle of Greenwood, LA and Mary Jennings of Eunice, LA; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Vera Fenton, his brother Jess Fenton, Jr., his father and mother-in-law Leo and Lou Annie Jennings, sister and brother-in-law Marline and Rev. John Rasgdale, brothers-in-law Rev. Vernon Liddle. Shirral and Roger Jennings, brother and sister-in-law Hulon and MarJo Jennings, a nephew and niece, Richard and Rhonda Jo Jennings. We loved him so much and will miss him always and look forward to our reunion. We rejoice in his glorious arrival in heaven. Those honored to serve as pallbearers; Mark Coker, Michael Coker, Jon Ragsdale, Todd Liddle, Bobby Dean Birdwell, Steve Birdwell, Hal Birdwell, and Chris Birdwell.
