Robert L. Walker entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 66. Robert was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. There will be a Memorial Mass held at the church in Isle Brevelle, LA at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 with Fr. Thomas Paul officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home Chapel. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth R. Anderson and his father, W. F. Walker. He is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Debra Johnson Walker; one daughter, Ginny Walker Wilson and husband, Bryan of Richardson, TX; mother, Nadine Persky Beasley of Natchitoches; one brother, Steve Beasley and wife, Veronica of Lafayette, LA; two sisters, Marsha Lynn Hoell and husband, Johnnie of Grand Cane, LA and Sherry Green and husband, Tom of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Walker Dean, Ellie Jean, and Colton Dean Wilson of Richardson, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of extended family and loved ones. Mr. Walker lived his entire adult life in Natchitoches, LA. He was a graduate of Grand Cane High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from Northwestern State University in 1972. He served in the U. S. Navy for two years and was honorably discharged. Mr. Walker’s career included employment with Progressive Savings & Loan; Sears & Roebuck; Western Oceanic; Sherwin Williams; and owner operator since 1994 of Yesterday’s, Yesterday’s Too and Point Place Marina. His businesses allowed him to employ and mentor numerous individuals enrolled at Northwestern State University. These young people have gone on to various career choices and still maintain a personal relationship with him because of the love, generosity and personal interest he took in each of their lives. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and mentor. He was always ready to make humor a part of his daily life and was a caring and generous person who spent every day helping others in need. Robert loved all kinds of sports and was always loyal to the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. He loved nature and all kinds of animals especially his beloved dog Mary Jane and his cat Hobo. Robert was very involved in the maintenance and upkeep of Cane River Lake. He was extremely vocal about enforcing the no wake zone behind the marina!! He was compassionate and patient with elderly men and women and loved children. He was passionate about traveling and explored many wonderful places in the United States and abroad. Robert enjoyed his life to the fullest and is leaving many memories, which will always be cherished, by his friends, family and extended family. He will be greatly missed. Pallbearers for the services will be Robert Benson, Christopher Billiot, Chris Hawkins, Charles Levy, Robert Sheppard and Jim Talmadge.
