Janis, 52 years of age, passed away December 17, 2014. Janis was born April 27, 1962 in Natchitoches, LA and was a resident of Natchitoches her entire life. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law. She was always willing to help anyone in need and never met a person she didn’t consider a friend. The love she showed was Christ-like and very unconditional. She loved children and had a way to capture their hearts and attention. The hugs she gave would make you feel like everything was going to be ok no matter what you were going through. She was a devoted member of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
As a day care worker for Westside Day Care Center, Janis took care of many children for a number of years. Her desire to help others led to her attaining an LPN certification through the Natchitoches Campus of Northwest Louisiana Technical College. As a nurse, she worked 15 years for various local nursing homes, caring for the sick and elderly.
After leaving the nursing profession, Janis and her husband John owned and ran 3 J’s Four Way for 13 years and Cypress Knee Outdoors. During this time she befriended many people in the surrounding community, growing the business through her kindness to customers and outstanding cooking ability.
Janis loved flowers, hummingbirds, her back porch view of Cane River, going to the Cane River Green Market, and traveling all over the country. Her love, her strength, her joys; Janis shared these with all those that she could, and enriched their lives all the more. She has been needed greatly here, but now she is needed more elsewhere, and she will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband, John Andrew Abraham of Natchitoches, LA; her sons, Drew Abraham, Randy Achord and wife Candace, Jarrod Abraham, and Joseph "Jody" Bush and wife Constance, all of Natchitoches, LA; her grandchildren, Collin Achord, Cadence Achord, Corbin Achord, Braylon Bush, Patrick Bush, and Cailah Bush; her sister, Paula Patterson and her husband David of Natchitoches, LA; four sisters-in-law, Anita Maricelli and husband Rod of Shreveport, LA, Laura Gorum of Natchitoches, LA, Linda Folden and husband Dewayne of Winnfield, LA, and Sally Abraham of Robeline, LA; five brothers-in-law, Louis Abraham and wife Sherry of Albuquerque, NM, James Abraham and wife Dianne of Cary, NC, Raymond Abraham and wife Beverly of Minden, LA, David Abraham and wife Beth of San Antonio, TX, and Dean Abraham of San Antonio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Potter Jones and Odeal Vallery Jones; her daughter Chasity Achord; her mother and father-in-law, Elma and Leo Abraham, Sr.; one step-son, Andy Abraham; and her brother-in-law, Leo Abraham, Jr.
