A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mamie Leone Jabbia will be at 11 am Monday, December 22, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Powhatan, LA with Rev. Scott Chemino and Rev. John Pardue serving as co-celebrants. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 pm on Sunday, December 21st in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Jabbia, 92 years of age and a long-time resident of Powhatan passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 in Natchitoches. She was born October 9, 1922 to Steve Leone and Jenny Digilormo Leone in Natchitoches, LA. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a devout Catholic woman and was in charge of the St. Joseph Altar in Powhatan for many years. She held the noblest job, she was a homemaker. Her greatest love in life was cooking and feeding friends and family especially well known for her homemade Italian bread. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jabbia; parents, Steve and Jenny Leone; siblings, Rosie Mondello, Laura Jabbia, Dominick Leone, Sam Leone, and John Leone; and a son in law, David Summers.
Her memory is cherished by her daughter, Josephine Summers; son, Pete Jabbia and his wife, Suzanne; sister, Lorenza Fair and her husband Billy; brothers, Tony Leone and his wife Ty and Joe Leone and his wife Genita. She was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Frank Jabbia and his wife Chantelle and Todd Jabbia and his wife Suzie; and 8 great grandchildren, Joseph Jabbia, Genna Jabbia, Sophia Jabbia, Frank “Tripp” Jabbia, Mary Katherine Jabbia, Dominick Jabbia, Mia Jabbia, and Austin Billiot.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Frank Jabbia, Todd Jabbia, Frank “Tripp” Jabbia, Pat Mondello, Sam Leone, and Pete Leone.
