Shirline Fay Horton Megason

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Shirline Fay Horton Megason will be at 1 pm Monday, January 5, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Mark Megason officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetry near Hagewood, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Shirlene, 67 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 7, 1947 to James Franklin Horton and Ethel Easter Rolland Horton in Bude, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Horton, C.C. Horton, and Elbert Horton; sisters, Aline Horton Thomason and Charlene Horton LaCaze; a grandson, Brent Michael Welch; her sister-in-law, Ann Megason Anderson; and her in-laws, Austin and Gertie Ingram Megason. She worked at Alliance Compressor and for the last few years at Stine Lumber. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed taking them with Olan to the deer camp. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was survived by her husband of 50 years, Olan Megason; daughter, Angie Megason Welch and her husband Herbert; son, Travis DeWayne Megason; granddaughter, Kaylan Elizabeth Welch; grandsons, Tyler Megason, Seth Welch and Taylor Isreal; brothers, R.G. Horton and his wife Kristina; brothers in law, Rev. Mark Megason and wife Faye and Don Thomason; sister in law, Jackie Horton and Pat Horton; nieces and nephews, Steven Anderson, Carla Anderson, Toni Megason Eddleman, Marcie Megason Tyler, Doug Feazell Megason, Cheryl Horton LaCour, George Horton, Jr., Sandy Hersey, LeRoy Norris, Tina Horton Rachal, Donald Wayne Horton, Ronald Horton, Greg Horton, Lisa Horton, and Michael Horton; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Seth Welch, Doug Feazell Megason, Tyler Megason, Taylor Isreal, Willie Garcia and Ben Garcia. Honorary pallbearer will be Travis DeWayne Megason.
