A service to honor the life of Frances G. James will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Frances, 64 years of age, passed away on January 8, 2015 surrounded by her family. Frances was born September 22, 1950 in Many, LA and resided in Natchitoches. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. Frances was also dearly loved by her nieces and nephews. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and protected them no matter the circumstances. Her family will always appreciate and admire her strength and determination.
Throughout her life, Frances kept busy working at many places, including Willamette Plywood Plant. She retired from Willamette, she then devoted herself to raising her girls. When the girls were older, Frances went back to work at the NSU Bookstore. Her love for children lead her to volunteer to care for her niece. Frances touched so many lives, both family and friends.
Frances loved to sit on her back porch and work with her flowers. She also enjoyed watching the birds, especially hummingbirds and doves, and the squirrels that played in the backyard. Her dogs, which stayed by her side, meant the world to her and will also miss her presence. Whether they were traveling to the casinos in Las Vegas or spending time at their camp on Toledo Bend, Frances and her husband Ken enjoyed staying active. Fishing was also a favorite activity that both Frances and Ken shared.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Kenneth James of Natchitoches, LA, her daughters Carey James Brewer of Natchitoches, LA and Mary Frances James Claycomb and her husband Timothy Claycomb of Covington, LA; grandchildren, Dalton Brewer and Ethan Brewer of Natchitoches, LA and Asher Claycomb of Covington, LA; her father, James C. Geter; sister, Loree Geter Elkins and Thomas Elkins, all of Natchitoches, LA; sister-in-law Jean Geter of Keithville, LA; and brother-in-law Larry James of New Iberia, LA. Nephews and nieces include David Elkins and wife Deanna Elkins of Robeline, LA, Christopher Geter and Jeremy Geter, both of Arlington, TX; Melissa Kuehnemund of Keithville, LA; Tanya Williams and husband Bryant Williams of Keithville, LA and Jennifer Stanfield and husband Alan Stanfield of Natchitoches, LA. Great nephews and nieces include Stephen Williams and Ryan Willams, both of Keithville, LA; James Riley Stanfield of Natchitoches, LA and William “Will” Elkins of Robeline, LA; Hana Stanfield of Natchitoches, LA and Olivia Kuehnemund of Keithville, LA. Special cousins include David Hamous of Natchitoches, LA; Linda Fatheree and Juddy Hamous, both from Robeline, LA.
Frances was proceeded in death by her mother, Iva Geter of Robeline, LA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nathan and Carey James of New Iberia, LA; and her brother, Dorland Geter of Keithville, LA.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Earl Dugas, David Hamous, Juddy Hamous, Clint “Scooter” Perot, Tommy Fatheree, and Alan Stanfield. Honorary pallbearer will be James Riley Stanfield.
