The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on January 13, 2015 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home. “J.B.”, 81 years of age, was born March 22, 1933 in Winnfield, LA, and passed away at his home in Natchitoches, January 11, 2015, surrounded by his family. Papa was the ultimate family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and made sure they knew it. Family was everything to him. He was the head of the house for the whole family - "He knew best". His next love was hunting, fishing and the outdoors. His best days were spent trout fishing with his wife, Geneva, or in a deer stand with one of his kids or grandkids. He was always laughing and joking with everyone. From his family to the employees at Walmart and Brookshires, if you went in there with him, they would say "Oh Lord look who's here" and if they didn't see him coming he would bump them with his buggy and then the hugging and kissing would start. Even through these last 10 months of illness, he never lost his sense of humor; just ask all of his nurses. Lately, his favorite place was his recliner, with his dog Cooper on one knee and Lucy his cat on the other, with a tooth pick in his mouth. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Mount McCain and Grace Lillian Mizell McCain Warner; one son, Bryant McCain; one brother, Henry Warner; and two brothers-in-law, Lee Stone and Huelon Gorham. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geneva Simons McCain of Natchitoches, LA; one son, Sam McCain and his wife Brenda of Natchitoches, LA; two daughters, Marilyn McCain Wynn and her husband Ben of Natchitoches, LA and Cindy McCain of Natchitoches, LA; six grandchildren, Amy Davis and her husband Aaron, Heather Gandy and her husband Keith, Shawn LaCaze and his wife Jamie, Jamie Harper, Logan McCain and Chelsea McClure, and Kaitlyn McCain; six great grandchildren, Austin Barbo, Trevor Barbo, Cole Young, Collin LaCaze, Luke LaCaze, and Bella McClure; two sisters, Rose Anna Gorham of Winnfield and Martha Stone of Winnfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Austin Barbo, Trevor Barbo, Cole Young, Tim Simons, Mark Green, and Lance Goad. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Warner, Craig Warner, Chris Warner, and Jeremy Warner. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center and Christus Highland Hospital for the care and love they gave to Papa.
