A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Bernadine LaCour Rachal will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, Louisiana with Fr. Rothell Price serving as celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:00 am in the church hall. Bernadine passed away Tuesday, January 27 following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bernadine was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on February 17, 1926 to Oralean B. and Peter D. LaCour. She spent her early life in Natchitoches until her marriage with Anthony G. Rachal and their decision to reside in Shreveport. They lived there until deciding to move back to Melrose in their later years. Their 67 years together was broken by her death. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Loretta Roque, her brothers Richard LaCour , Maurice LaCour, Francis LaCour and Henry LaCour ; two grandsons Anthony James Brown and Peter Joseph Brown. Bernadine is survived by her husband Anthony and their children, Rose and husband James Brown, and their daughter Jennifer Germany; Charles Rachal and wife Agnes and Charles’ son John; Sylvia and husband Eugen Crook and their daughter Jade Dishman; Frances and husband Roland and Frances’ son Matthew Wells, and her brothers Earl LaCour and Earvin LaCour. She is also survived by three great- grandchildren, Anaya Germany, Madison Brown, and Dominique Brown; and two step great-grandchildren, Haley and Trey Dishman, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, god children, extended family and friends.
