Funeral services for Billy Mack Reid will be held at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 3:00 pm in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. John Elliot officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. He will be interred at his beloved “Back 40 Ranch” in Natchitoches, LA. Billy Reid, 73 years of age, passed away February 24, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. He was born February 8, 1942 in Monticello, MS. He was a hardworking man, a devoted husband, loving father, and wonderful grand and great grandfather. He loved his family, and he loved to share his life stories with all of his family. He retired from Willamette Paper Mill in Campti, LA after 29 years. He held several offices in Woodman of the World Life Insurance Company and was a historian and lifetime member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He always enjoyed woodworking, vacationing in Branson, traveling often, and working on his beloved ranch raising cattle. He lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ezora “Sam” Boyd Reid of Natchitoches, LA; his two sons, Kris Reid and wife Denise of Savannah, TN and Stacy Reid of Natchitoches, LA; one granddaughter, Jenny Reid Tuma and husband Jeremy of Pineville, LA; one grandson, Zach Knight; four great grandchildren, Joanna, Isabella, Harley Mack, and Kristopher Reid Tuma; his brother, Robert M. Reid and wife Becky of Hattiesburg, MS; and his special niece Cindy Reid Sykes of Flora, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Coleen Reid; one grandson, Billy Mack “Duce” Reid, II; and his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hood Reid. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Johnny Reid, Jeff Reid, Jody Reid, Tom Elkins, Charles Hampton, and Terry Hinds.
