Funeral service for Cornelia E. 'Betty' Jordan will be held 1 PM Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Avery, Rev. James Poole, and Rev. Jacqueline Collins officiating. Burial will be in American Cemetery in Natchitoches under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 12 Noon until service time in the church.
Ms. Jordan, 80, of Natchitoches, La., died Friday, December 5, 2008, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Natchitoches, La. and lived on the family farm in Primera, Tx. during her elementary and high school years. She was graduated from Northwestern State College in 1951 with a BA degree in Art. Ms. Betty was a retired librarian, artist, and worked as an employee of First United Methodist Church in various capacities until her death. She enjoyed a life filled with companion animals, her home, and the beauty of her flowers and plants. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, Maude Barr Circle, Methodist Women, Young At Heart Club, Colonial Dames, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde H. Jordan, Jr.; parents, Clyde Harrell Jordan, Sr. and Lessie Lee Teddlie Jordan; sister-in-law, Mildred 'Mimi' Jordan.
She is survived by one brother, Edward L. Jordan and wife Carolyn of Gaithersburg, Md.; sister-in-law, Vera Jordan of West Monroe, La.; three nieces, Diana Jordan of Richmond, Va., Julie Brown and husband Mike of Milwaukee, Wi., and Lisa Chitour and husband Naguib of Asheville, N.C.; five nephews, John Jordan and wife Maria of Potomac, Md, Ted Jordan and wife Diane of Boyds, Md, Clyde Jordan, III and wife Trudie of Fort Worth, Tx, Bryan Jordan and wife Jo of Texas, and Mark Moats of Fort Worth, Tx.; fourteen great nieces and nephews; adopted son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Ackerman of Natchitoches, La.
