James Carson

May 30, 1931 — November 30, 2008

James "Kit" Henderson Carson, Jr., age 77, of Campti, LA, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, LA. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA with Bro. T. Don White of Calvary Baptist Church in Homer officiating. James was a wonderful husband and dad. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends, especially his coffee drinking group. He was a Northwestern Alumni where he played basketball and football. He was an avid reader, one who enjoyed reading historical, western, and nature novels. He collected war memorabilia from all of the past centuries conflicts. He was an Army veteran and served in Korea and Japan. He was a business man who owned a beauty supply business and also bred, trained, and raced thoroughbreds. He raced his horses at Aksarben and Fonner Park in Nebraska as well as race tracks in neighboring states. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and his tabby cat, Christopher Lightning. This poem was giving to James by his mother before she passed away. I said a prayer for you today, and know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although he spoke no word! I didn't ask for wealth or fame, (I knew you wouldn't mind). I asked him to send treasures, of a far more lasting kind! I asked that he be near you, at the start of each new day; to grant you health and blessings, and friends to share your way! I asked for happiness for you, in all things great and small. But it was for his loving care, I prayed the most of all! He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carson and Beuna Adams Carson; and one brother, John Carson. He is survived by his wife Sandra Brantly Carson; one daughter, Kristin Bovinet and husband Mike of Papillion, NE; three brothers, Varnum "Kit" Carson of Mansfield, LA, Joe Carson and wife Ginger of San Antonio, TX, and Ben Carson and wife Martha of Springdale, AR; two step-daughters, Patsy Erskin and husband Jim of Nellysford, VA and Karen Stinson of Ruston, LA; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; please make a donation to the Calvary Baptist Church in Homer or to the charity of your choice.
