A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Melva Jean Page will be at 2:30 pm Sunday, March 8, 2015 at L.C. Weaver Cemetery in Campti, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.
Jean Page, age 71 and a resident of Campti, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Alexandria, LA. She was born August 10, 1943 to Johnny and Alline (Story) Sanders in Magnolia, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Page; her parents; a daughter, Deborah Vines; a grandson, Brandon Simmons and a grandmother, who she affectionately knew as Grandma Story.
Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a breast cancer survivor and won her battle twice in an 11 year span from that disease. Her strength and determination was evident by her ability to fight such a dreadful disease. She enjoyed crocheting, until her health would not allow her to do it anymore. She truly loved creating gifts for family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lisa Simmons of Campti, Leslie Miller of Junction City, and Kimberly Simmons of Natchitoches; grandchildren, Beth Harnage, Deltyn Miller, Kaine Hunt, Kailee DeLoach, Christopher Johnson and Robert Johnson; great grandchildren, Fredrick Johnson, Max Harnage, Elissa Harnage and Kynlee Harnage; as well as her precious Chihuahua, Sugar Bear “Bo” Page.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Christopher Johnson, Kaine Hunt, Anthony Procell, Robert Johnson, Kyle Riggs and Cody Lott. Honorary pallbearers will be Fredrick and Max Harnage.
