A service to honor the life of Mr. Ben Lindsey will be at 11 am Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Provencal with Bro. Tommy Haley, Bro. Bill Hudson and Bro. Paul Grace officiating. Burial will follow at Provencal Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5 pm on Wednesday, March 11th at First Baptist of Provencal.
Mr. Lindsey, 78 years of age and a resident of Provencal, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born October 4, 1936 in Provencal to Glen Kemp Lindsey and Ona Mae (Haley) Lindsey. He was preceded In death by his parents; and a brother, Glen Spiz Lindsey.
Ben was a wonderful husband, a great father and a legendary grandfather. A true Louisiana outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter. He retired from Brown & Root as a supervisor. Ben was always available to help anyone in need and it was that special quality that made him a true servant of God. The family is assured of being re-united one day with Ben because of the step of faith he made re-dedicating his life to his Lord Jesus Christ. He will truly be missed, always remembered and his family is comforted by the fact that he awaits them in Heaven.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 60 years, Betty S. Lindsey of Provencal; daughters, Charlotte Kelley and her husband Randy of Groves, TX and Sherri Gongre and her husband Dan of Provencal; and a son, Dewayne Lindsey of Provencal. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Mark Kelley and his wife Breanne of Tomball, TX, Megan Champagne and her husband Mark of Silsbee, TX, Lindsey Flynt and her husband Jeremy of Natchitoches, Bo Gongre of Provencal, Josh Lindsey of Broussard, Dallas Lindsey of Provencal and Chayton Friday of Provencal; 6 great grandchildren, Caitlyn Kelley, Dakota Kelley, Reese Champagne, Candas Kelley, Tyson Champagne, and Toren Champagne; two brothers, Larry and San Lindsey both of Provencal; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
