Berlin Moreland “Moe” Book died on March 11, 2015 in Natchitoches, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. He was born in New Era, Louisiana Concordia Parish on September 22, 1936. He was a long term resident at The Courtyard of Natchitoches where he was loved and cherished by the entire staff.
He graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1954 and was active in many athletic programs and served on numerous committees. He had a great passion for all things sports. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and completed post graduate courses at Auburn University in Alabama.
His early career began as an Actuary for TN Gas Transmission Company in Houston, TX, he went on to become an Instructor of Mathematics at Northwestern State University and also Instructor of Mathematics at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas currently named Texas A&M University – Commerce and forever after earned his name of “Professor”. Later on Mr. Book settled into a long term teaching career in Mathematics in Concordia Parish before his semi-retirement of becoming an usher for the Texas Rangers Baseball Team in Arlington, TX and a Terminal Manager for Argenbright Services at DFW International Airport.
Moe was predeceased in death by his parents Berlin Tellis Book and Numa Alba Book, a daughter Julie Ann Book, and a brother Eugene Preston Book. He is survived by his children Tina Elizabeth Book, David McCleary Book and his wife Gay Book, Kimberly Book Donna, Margaret Moreland Book & Berlin Moreland Book Jr. and his wife Bionca Book, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers and their wives, Dr. Marshall Keller Book and his wife Shiela Book, Don Neil Book and his wife Wilder Lane Book, a sister Martha Joan Book Thomasee and her husband James Thomasee as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member at the Church of Christ in Monterey, Louisiana.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Courtyard of Natchitoches for providing such dedication to meet his needs and special thanks to Carolyn Shannon for all her tireless assistance in his comfort, care and endless supply of his favorite candies.
