A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Alberta Sarpy will be at 11 am Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 9 am until the time of Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 911 5th St, Natchitoches, LA 71457. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 am.
Mrs. Sarpy, 96 years of age, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Natchitoches. She was born December 12, 1918 to the union of Charles “Son” Metoyer and Josephine (Monette) Metoyer in Melrose, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Earl Sarpy; her parents; a daughter, Peggy Hall; siblings, Katie Rachal, Joel Metoyer, Woodrow Metoyer, Joseph Metoyer, Norella Sarpy, Margie Conant, Charles Metoyer, Morrell Metoyer, and Monet Metoyer; as well as her god child, David Metoyer.
She was a homemaker and took great delight in providing for her family. Alberta was a devout Catholic lady who was an active member at St. Anthony as well as a member of the Altar Rosary and Christian Mother's Society. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Lorraine Sibley, grandchildren, Tresa Chambers and her husband Lester, Bryan Hall and his wife April, Jarrin Sarpy and his wife LaTasha, and Peggy Wilson and her husband Kevin; great grandchildren, Joshua Chambers, Xytavion Jefferson, La Terian Smith and his wife Nadean, Dominique Sibley and his wife Jessica, Shemyckel Hamilton, Micahel Hamilton, Jr., Ashunti Fobb and Ashily Wilson; great-great grandchildren, LaTreveion Johnson, Genesis Washington, A’Yonna Smith and ZaRiah McDaniel; as well as her god children, Gregory Sarpy, Isaac Lewis and a host of nieces and nephews.
