James David Guilliams, age 83, of Lafayette, LA, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2008. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2008, with Rev. Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will be at L. C. Weaver Cemetery in Campti, La.
Mr. James served during WWII in the Navy on the USS Randall and was a Morse Code radio operator. He worked as a foreman for the Hunt Lumber Company in Ruston, LA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days, and was fond of the outdoors. He enjoyed reading biographies, history, and religious books, and in the last six years of his life, he studied the Bible often. He was a member of the Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church in Natchitoches. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Nell Guilliams; his parents, Charles Theodore Guilliams and Myra Elizabeth Guilliams; one son Bruce Guilliams; three sisters, Bernice Frazier, Gladys Keller, and Margaret Walker; and five brothers, Johnny Guilliams, Oliver Guilliams, Harold Guilliams, Bobby Guilliams, and Paul Goza.
He is survived by his three daughters, Pat Sinclair and husband Duffie of Mineola, TX, Billie Karen Giddins and husband Richard of Lufkin, TX, and Randi Marrs and husband Ricky of Huntington, TX; two sons, Kelly Guilliams and wife Kathy of Heflin, LA and Tim Guilliams and wife Karen of Lafayette, LA; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn Dodson and husband Clifford of Mineola, TX.
