Hubert Simmons, 82 years of age, passed away March 22, 2015. Hubert was born March 28, 1932 in Sabine Parish, LA. He was a kind and loving man who loved to spend his time entertaining children. He had a knack for winning over the hearts of little ones, and even went as far as to open the doors of his home to many foster children. He made a positive difference in many young peoples lives. He was a jack-of-all trades, but his main talent was appliance repair, which he made his living from for many years. He was very intelligent and mechanically inclined, and could invent ways to fix items or save money by making things himself. He was a longtime member of Grand Ecore Baptist Church in Natchitoches, and was a fine Christian man, never speaking ill of anyone. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughters Bernice Longino and her husband Charles E. Longino, Jr. of Natchitoches, LA and Debby Saville and her husband Ray Saville of Campti, LA; two grandchildren, Jeffery Longino of Leesville, LA and Shaye Simmons of Provencal, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Simmons; his parents, Henry Marcus and Virginia Dare Simmons; six sisters, Willie Musette Simmons Manasco, Stella Grace Simmons Slade, Myrtle Lee Simmons Jennings, Dessie May Simmons Woodel, and Lillie Pearl Simmons Heister; and four brothers, Dock Huey Simmons, Ray Simmons, James Burk Simmons, and Bon Kirk Simmons.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
