Funeral services for Henry Payne Simpson, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Billy Shugart officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Henry Simpson, Jr., 78 years of age, passed away March 31, 2015. He was born February 6, 1937 in Henderson, TX. Henry was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful Christian, a member of the Gideon's, and a member of Cypress Church for around 11 years. He served in country by enlisting in the U.S. Army at a young age. He loved spending time in his garden raising and decorating gourds. He enjoyed spreading the Gospel of Christ through song, and spend many hours singing with "Joyful Sounds", a group which he was very fond of. He was a wonderful and strong person, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine Masters Simpson of Natchitoches, LA; his two children, Kenneth Wayne Simpson and wife Lisa of Natchitoches, LA and Carla Elain Simpson Robidoux and husband Cary of Natchitoches, LA; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Roper of Seabring, FL, Margaret Ascherl and husband Al of Clarinda, IA, and Sherry Hernandez and husband Raymond of Natchitoches, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Payne Simpson, Sr. and Bernice Possoit Simpson; his son, Henry Payne Simpson, III; one sister, Jo An Simpson Voight Pelham; and one brother, Joseph Simpson. Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers will be the members of "Joyful Sounds". The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches for all of their loving care, advice, and support during his illness, and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to them in memory of Mr. Henry.
