Funeral service for James Milton Platt will be held 1 PM Friday, January 9, 2009 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel 848 Keyser Avenue, Natchitoches, La. 71457, with Rev. Randy Olliff officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Vowells Mill, La. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Platt, 65, of Provencal, La., died Monday, January 5, 2009, at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center in Bossier City, La.
He was a native of Provencal, La. He was a retired custodian at Provencal Elementary School and worked as a machinist for 10 years in Youngstown, Ohio.
He enjoyed woodworking and metal detecting.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Ann Pitts Platt; father, James Edward Platt; brother, Glenn Davis.
He is survived by his wife Jackie Norman Platt of Provencal, La.; two daughters, Shari Platt of Shreveport, La. and Michelle Parker and husband Rance of Shreveport, La.; one granddaughter, Brianna Parker; his mother, Leoda Massey Davis and husband Harrlis of Terrell, Tx.; three sisters, Patti Wentworth of Newton Falls, Ohio, Kathy Winters of Marengo, Ohio, and Gloria Mashburn, Rockwall, Tx.; two brothers, Jimmy Platt of Greensboro, N.C. and Lynn Davis Wills Point, Tx.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Remo, Mike Richardson, Billy Clark, Robert Gillie, William Hymes, and Kevin Warner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Kay and Rance Parker.
