A memorial service for Patricia Rigley Martin will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June, 2015 at Blanchard-St. Denis in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Richard Hale, Pastor of Grand Ecore Church of Christ, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time on Tuesday.
Patricia, 84 years of age, was born May 3, 1931 in Rancine, WI, and passed away May 28, 2015 in Bossier City, LA. Pat Martins name is synonymous with the bridge in Natchitoches, LA. Prior to the on-set of the St. Denis Duplicate Bridge Club, she and her long time bridge partner, Irma Lewis, played in many tournaments around the state, winning many of them, using a system of their own. Pat was the first winner of the Lou Salim Trophy in 1974. She was the first owner-director of the St. Denis Bridge Club when it was sanctioned by American Contract Bridge League in 1978. She, with the help of Irma Lewis, ran the club.
They were a great team. After Irma's death, Pat held the position of owner and director until May 01, 2014, when she gave up the club to stay at home and care for her beloved husband, Frank Martin, Sr., who passed away May 05, 2015. Pat will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her son, Frank Martin, Jr. of Blanchard, LA; and one brother, James Rigley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Martin, Sr.; her parents, Joseph E. Rigley and Cora Mae Held Rigely; and one daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Martin.
