Christine Roe, 92 years of age, passed away June 28, 2015. She was born April 29, 1923 in Hot Springs, AR. She was a loving and kind lady, a devoted wife, and a cherished mother and grandmother. "Granny Roe", as she was known, loved to sing. She belonged to an A Cappella choir for some time, but her favorite past time was to sing "Summertime Lullaby" to her grandchildren. In 1942, she graduated from C.E. Byrd High School as one of 502 students, a fact of which she was very proud.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, which she loved, and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Marthaville. After her husband passed, she spent her time volunteering at the Marthaville Mill Site, helped start the S.A.L.T. program at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Office, and was very active in the R.S.V.P. program, a national service volunteer program for people over 55. She loved to cook (she could make the best donuts this side of Heaven), quilt, and crochet, loved her family and God with all of her heart, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Felton J. Roe and his wife Cloydean McBride Roe of Many, LA and Ralph E. Roe and his wife Carolyn Sue Roe of Robeline, LA; one daughter, Anita Roe Shoemaker Elhage and her husband Michael of Marthaville, LA; two daughter-in-laws, Grace Roe of Lake Charles and Sandra Sandefur of Colfax, LA; twenty-three grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Roe, Sr.; her parents, Albert Wallis and Lassie Yocom Wallis; two sons, Robert William Roe, Jr. and henry Albert Roe; and two brothers, Joseph Miles Wallis and Mahlon Eugene Wallis.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Henry Albert Roe, Jr., Anthony Wade Roe, Sam Roe, Adam Roe, Ralph "Bubba" Roe, Jr., Billy Shoemaker, and Stanley Shoemaker.
