Lillian “Leola” Perot Walmsley, 85, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Natchitoches, LA., born February 27, 1930. She was a homemaker and a devout member of The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, having been baptized there on Palm Sunday, 85 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ricketts “Red” Walmsley, Jr.; parents, Joseph Charles Perot, Sr. and Lillian Futrell Perot; a brother, Joseph “Joe” Charles Perot, Jr.
She is survived by four daughters, Frances Kilgore and her husband Gary of Natchitoches, Barbara Taylor and her husband, George of Union, MO, Georgia Ann Walmsley of Natchitoches, and Mary Jo Hoyt and her husband Allen of Meeker; one son, George Ricketts “Ricky” Walmsley, III and his wife Julie of Mandeville; two sisters, Nita Maggio of Natchitoches and Anna Skyles of Shreveport; eight grandchildren, Alicia Cheplick, Lauren Snyder, Danielle Digilormo, Bonnie Gremillion, Matthew Nugent, Andrew Hoyt, Conner Walmsley, and Cole Walmsley; six great grandchildren, Tristan Snyder, Taylor Snyder, Eva Gremillion, Julia Gremillion, Savannah Cheplick and Sophia Cheplick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 11 am at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Very Rev. Ryan Humphries and Rev. Stephen Soares serving as celebrants. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, July 3rd at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel on July 3rd.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matthew Nugent, Andrew Hoyt, Conner Walmsley; and her nephews, Henry Maggio, Chris Maggio and J. Hammond Perot.
