Jack V. Gorham

Funeral service for Mr. Jack Gorham will be at 2 pm Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove CMC Cemetery near Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 9 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Gorham, 87 years of age and a long-time resident of Shreveport, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 in Shreveport. He was born February 10, 1928 in Winnfield, LA to Hylton and Estelle (Kelley) Gorham. Jack was a star athlete and a graduate of Winn High. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Merchant Marines and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Beard Industries after 32 years of service as a welder. He was a hard worker and loved providing for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia King of Shreveport and Gilda Jenkins of Robeline; sisters, Sue Davis and her husband Richard of Ragley, LA, and Debbie Alwell of Pineville, LA; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Daniels of Robeline, Johnnie Jenkins of Robeline, Joshua Jenkins and his wife Charie of Natchitoches, Destiny Downs and her husband Paul of Shreveport, Dustin King and his wife Khristen of Oil City, Tommy Colston and his wife Jennifer of Baton Rouge and Krystal Long and her husband Dusty of Hineston; as well as 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Lee (Floyd) Gorham; his parents; and his brother, Larry Gorham. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Dustin King, Joshua Jenkins, Christian Gaspard, Drew Gibson, Jason Warren and Marvin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie Jenkins and Zachary Gaspard.
